THE STORY BEHIND

Nestled in the verdant mountains of Quanzhou, Fujian Province, the town of Dehua has been a beacon of porcelain craftsmanship since the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Renowned for its luminous white porcelain, known in the West as "Blanc de Chine," Dehua's artisans have honed their skills over centuries, creating pieces that are both delicate and enduring. In the 15th century, Dehua porcelain captivated European nobility, who were enchanted by its translucent beauty and refined elegance. These exquisite pieces became treasured possessions, symbolizing sophistication and cultural appreciation. “Venor” draws inspiration from this rich heritage, melding traditional Chinese porcelain techniques with contemporary minimalist design. Each coffee cup is meticulously hand-thrown using Dehua's prized white kaolin clay, celebrated for its purity and fine texture. The cups are then fired at high temperatures ranging from 1300 to 1350 °C in either wood-fired or gas kilns, a process that enhances their durability and imparts a subtle, natural glaze. The design philosophy of “Venor” embraces simplicity and authenticity. The cups feature a single-tone glaze with an intentionally aged finish, reflecting the wabi-sabi aesthetic that finds beauty in imperfection and transience. This approach resonates with the minimalist sensibilities of Nordic design, creating a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western artistry. Beyond their visual appeal, “Venor” cups are a testament to the enduring legacy of Dehua porcelain. They embody the dedication of artisans who have passed down their knowledge through generations, preserving techniques that have stood the test of time.
