THE STORY BEHIND

According to legend, Nüwa and Fuxi were deities with human heads and serpent-like bodies who created humanity and imparted knowledge to them. The design of the "Genesis Brocade" pattern is inspired by the famous artifact "Fuxi and Nüwa with Intertwined Tails," unearthed in Xinjiang. In this depiction, Nüwa holds a compass, symbolizing the heavens, while Fuxi holds a square, representing the earth; their intertwined tails signify the inseparable connection between the two. The central motif features the entwined figures of Nüwa and Fuxi, symbolizing the eternal cycle of life. Flanking them are the compass and square, representing the harmony of heaven and earth, while above and below are the sun and moon, depicted with ancient Chinese characters. The secondary pattern portrays the nascent universe nurturing all things, incorporating elements such as mountains and their reflections, pine needles symbolizing longevity, and celestial bodies. Encircling the design, two symmetrical ancient "巳" characters form a continuous pattern, conveying the auspicious wish for perpetual renewal and unending vitality.
